How to Choose a Personalised Name Plaque for Your Child’s Room

Sometimes it’s the smallest detail that makes a room feel like theirs. A name, a favourite colour or a keepsake chosen especially for them can bring personality to a nursery or child’s bedroom.

If you’re choosing a personalised name plaque, start with three things: the room’s colours, the space you have available and the name you’d like featured.

Choose a pastel colour that suits the room

You don’t need to match every piece of décor. Take a colour from the bedding, a favourite print or a rug as your starting point. Our personalised cloud name plaques come in four pastel cloud colours, each with white lettering:

  • Pastel blue: pairs with white, soft grey and natural timber.

  • Pastel pink: complements cream, warm neutrals and other pink accents.

  • Pastel green: works with botanical prints, timber and earthy colours.

  • Pastel yellow: adds a cheerful accent to a neutral or colourful room.

These are starting points rather than rules. Choose a colour you enjoy seeing in the space, whether you’re decorating for a newborn or a child with very definite opinions about their favourite shade. The lettering on this design is always white.

Check the size before choosing its place

Our cloud name plaque is approximately 24 cm wide. Measure the intended display area before ordering, especially if you’re arranging it alongside prints or other decorations.

Try cutting a piece of paper approximately 24 cm wide and holding it in the space. It won’t show the exact cloud shape, but it can help you judge the scale.

If you have a particular display method in mind, contact us before purchasing to discuss suitability. This plaque is a decorative item, not a toy.

Check the name and spelling

Enter the name exactly as you’d like it to appear, checking the spelling and capitalisation carefully. If you’re buying a gift, confirm the name with the parents before ordering.

Longer names may need smaller lettering or an adjusted layout. If you would like multiple names or a particular arrangement, contact us before ordering to confirm what can be accommodated.

Choosing a name plaque as a gift

A personalised nursery name plaque can make a thoughtful gift for a new baby, a first birthday or a child moving into their own room.

If the baby’s name hasn’t been announced, wait until it’s confirmed. For a baby shower, check with the parents first to avoid revealing a name they’re keeping private.

A photo of the room can help you choose a colour. Look for a shade already repeated in the décor, or ask which of the four pastel colours the family would prefer.
